It's not uncommon to need a little advice from time to time. Where, though, to get reliable advice in a direct and confidential way?

➤ Advice.ie is a specialised online psychotherapeutic counselling service run by Consulting Psychologist & Cognitive Scientist John Francis Leader. ➤ Every day in his clinic John helps people overcome a very wide variety of problems and lead rich and fulfilling lives. Now from home you can receive professional therapeutic advice personally designed for you. ➤ Some people prefer to write down what's happening, others like the confidentiality of getting support this way, and for others it's a matter of time and travel. Whatever your reason Advice.ie will be happy to guide you through the simple process of getting help.*

How does Advice.ie work?

No two people are the same and we value taking a personal approach to each consultation. In order to achieve this the Advice.ie consultation involves three parts:

  1. A pre-consultation
  2. The opportunity to express what’s happening
  3. A personal reply from your therapist

What is the style of advice given?

The style of advice given will never be overly prescriptive- instead the ethos of Advice.ie is to help you think about what’s happening from a different perspective in order to (a) understand it (b) get clearer on your options to address it and (c) feel enabled to take practical action.

How many topics can I seek advice on?

You are welcome to seek support for more than one topic at the same time and sometimes its a good idea to as the topics may be related. However do bare in mind that the more focused you keep your consultation the more depth of guidance it will be possible for your therapist to give you in that session.

What topics can I seek advice about?

The topic of your consultation can be whatever you wish. For certain types of topics the advice given may be able to help you to swiftly improve, for other areas it may help you to take steps to improve over time, and in circumstances where change is not possible the advice given will focus on helping you to deal with the circumstances as best as you can.

Some of the typical topic areas that we assist with include:

➤ Achievement

➤ Balance

How long does it take?

The consultation process is online and instant and your request will be shared automatically and securely with your therapist. We aim to respond promptly to each consultation, with normal response times falling within 48 hours, however we do prioritise quality over speed as sometimes your therapist will want to take some time to consider what you have raised or to research options.

*Can you help everyone?

We can help most clients but please note that you need to be over the age of 18 and for those with serious diagnoses please ask for your consultant’s approval before consulting online. If we feel after reviewing your consultation that we can’t adequately help you you will not be charged and will be referred to an appropriate practitioner. This service is not suitable for those with urgent concerns- please contact your local specialist in these cases.
